Of course, the big name out there is Dwight Howard, who has been linked to Houston if he declines to re-sign with the Lakers. With players like Harden, Jeremy Lin, Omer Asik and Chandler Parsons already in place, the Rockets should be a very intriguing destination this summer. |

It's a severe blow to the Rockets' chances of coming back from an 0-3 hole to beat the Thunder. Delfino was one of the defenders coach Kevin McHale was using on Kevin Durant and he made 11 3-pointers in the first four games of the series. Francisco Garcia and Chandler Parsons are going to have to avoid foul trouble while guarding Durant. |

James Harden (strep throat) hit just 7-of-22 shots in Friday's 103-94 elimination loss to the Thunder in Game 6, finishing with 26 points, six rebounds, seven assists, two steals and two blocks in 43 minutes. Derek Fisher was able to cover him and that should tell folks all they need to know about how Harden felt. The Rockets played a solid brand of basketball this season and with a superstar in play they now need to build around him. Chandler Parsons scored 25 points with seven boards, Francisco Garcia stepped up with 11 points, six rebounds and five assists, and Omer Asik went for 13 and 13 with a steal and two blocks in the loss.

Delfino missed the second half of Game 5 against Oklahoma City because of a sore right foot. A CT scan performed Thursday revealed the fracture, and Delfino will have surgery in the offseason. Delfino has averaged nine points, 2.4 rebounds and two assists in the playoffs this year. Rockets general manager Daryl Morey says Delfino will be ready for the start of next season.

Lin will apparently go through contact practice to determine just how far he's come, and he hasn't even taken contact since the chest injury, so he was never really close to playing in Game 4 or Game 5 despite what he's said. Lin wants to play in Game 6, but as has been the case, the training staff will make the final call. Either way, Patrick Beverley will see plenty of time on the floor.

Delfino's status for Game 6 is up in the air, but after dealing with a sore left foot earlier in the season, the issue hasn't gone away. "I've been having this for a couple of weeks now," he said. "I've been playing in pain." Kevin McHale revealed Delfino is dealing with bone spurs, a fracture of a bone spur, and "a lot of different stuff going on." Even if Delfino somehow plays on Friday, expect Francisco Garcia to see extended minutes.

Coach Kevin McHale said Carlos Delfino will have the bone spurs in his left foot examined Thursday. Delfino's been dealing with a foot injury since at least early April, but the tests come one day after his worst performance of the Rockets' opening-round series. The veteran swingman was held scoreless and managed just one assist in 10 minutes of action Wednesday night. McHale said the Rockets would have an update on his status for Game 6 later in the day. With Jeremy Lin still dealing with a chest contusion, the Rockets' backcourt would be stretched pretty thin if Delfino has to sit out.
Jeremy Lin (chest) will increase his workouts Thursday and hopes to add contact, according to coach Kevin McHale. Lin says he was held out of Games 4 and 5 by the team but it should be noted he exited Game 3 of his own volition. If Lin does return, McHale has some very intriguing lineup decisions to make given the way the Rockets' have performed since he's been out, particularly in Game 5.

Francisco Garcia hit 6-of-14 shots and five 3-pointers for 18 points, five rebounds, three assists, a steal and two blocks in Wednesday's Game 5 win at OKC. Garcia could never really find his stride with the Kings and didn't do much early in this series, but has become a nice weapon for the Rockets over the last few games. And if he keeps it up, it's possible he could have some fantasy value next season if he can win a starting gig.
Patrick Beverley played well again on Wednesday, finishing with 14 points, eight boards, one assist, one steal, one block and two 3-pointers as the Rockets won Game 5 in OKC to pull their series to a 3-2 deficit. Beverley suddenly looks as good, if not better, than the Clippers' Eric Bledsoe, and is making a name for himself in these playoffs.
James Harden played through an illness and hit 10-of-16 shots and 7-of-9 3-pointers for 31 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a steal in Wednesday's surprisingly easy Game 5 win at OKC. He was 7-for-7 from downtown at one point, tying Robert Horry for an NBA record, and outplayed Kevin Durant to help his team get the road win tonight. The Rockets are putting up a better fight than most thought was possible and the home crowd will be worked into a frenzy for Friday's Game 6.
The Thunder, who were never really in Wednesday's Game 5, turned to a strategy of hacking center Omer Asik late in the game, but Asik finished by hitting 4-of-6 shots and 13-of-18 free throws for 21 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. Asik, who shot 56 percent from the line this season, handled the pressure admirably and knocked down a majority of the free throws the Thunder handed him. The Thunder got it down to a six-point deficit, but continued to foul Asik, who kept hitting more than he was missing. Scott Brooks will be ripped for the decision, but given the fact that the Thunder really weren't doing much before the hack-fest starting, Brooks was just pulling at straws trying to make something happen. The Thunder will try to avoid a Game 7 by beating the Rockets in Houston in Friday's Game 6, but they'll have to play much better than they did tonight to make it happen.
James Harden (illness) will play against the Thunder in Wednesday's Game 5. There was never really a doubt. The Rockets are facing elimination and with Jeremy Lin saying that he will not play, there will be a lot on Harden's plate. It should be interesting to see how he fares tonight.

Asik has been big in the paint on defense and the Thunder haven't really been aggressive in getting shots at the rim. Although, OKC did rank 29th in the NBA in points in the paint, so Houston's perimeter defense will be huge in order to extend this series. Patrick Beverly was also solid on Monday with 16 points, four boards, three assists, one steal, one block and two 3-pointers.
James Harden's sub-par outing on Monday didn't prove costly in Houston's 105-103 win over the Thunder, scoring 15 points with one board, three assists, five steals, one block and 10 turnovers on 4-of-12 shooting. His 10 turnovers are just one off the all-time record for a playoff game and his carelessness with the ball almost came back to bite the Rockets. Harden did lead the NBA in turnovers per game at 3.8, but 5.0 per game in this series is a bit excessive to say the least. Turnovers aside, Houston came on strong in the third quarter, outscoring OKC 38-24. This was the second game in a row in which they dominated the third with a 27-14 advantage in Game 3. Scott Brooks may need to tinker with his lineup with Russell Westbrook out.
Chandler Parsons had team highs with 27 points and eight assists in Monday's 105-103 win over the Thunder, while adding 10 boards, one block and three 3-pointers in 41 minutes. It was one of his best games as a pro and the timing couldn't have been better to keep the Rockets alive. Parsons was phenomenal all year, shooting 48.6 percent from the field and 38.5 from beyond the arc for 15.5 points per game this regular season. Interestingly, he shoots better on the road at 49.9 percent compared to just 47.3 percent at home. Game 5 will be in OKC on Wednesday.

It's the kind of effort that an underdog team like the Rockets needs from an underdog player like Beverley in the playoffs. "Anyone who knows me, I don't go out to try and hurt anybody," Beverley said. "I play at one speed. That's fast. I crash the offensive glass. I was just trying to make a play on the ball before they called time out. A play like that is unfortunate right now."

There's no way to explain it, but Harden is suddenly struggling at the line and made just 3-of-7 on Sunday. While he's been struggling from the field since the All-Star break at just 43 percent, Harden's made an impressive 3.0 triples in that span while scoring 26 points per game. The Rockets will face the Lakers on Wednesday with the winner getting the seventh seed in the Western Conference.
Carlos Delfino hit six 3-pointers in a loss at Phoenix on Monday to go with 23 points, eight boards, two assists, two steals and one block in 31 minutes. He had four 3-pointers on Sunday and he's creeping back into the conversation just as the season comes to a close. If you're on the hunt for triples, Delfino could be useful in the finale against the Lakers on Wednesday. Although, the Rockets won't be able to go small against Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard.
Chandler Parsons played 40 minutes against the Suns on Monday, scoring a team-high 24 points, four rebounds, seven assists, one block and two 3-pointers. He played just 27 minutes in his return from a calf injury on Sunday, but his 40 minutes tonight suggest that he's back to 100 percent Parsons had a breakout season this year and he'll be off the board in the middle rounds in drafts next season.
Asik had 10 points and 12 rebounds Sunday in a 121-100 win over Sacramento. Asik is third in the league with 11.7 boards per game. He's certainly lived up to his monster off-season contract.

The Rockets came into Sunday just half a game behind the Warriors for the No. 6 seed, and the victory propels them ahead by virtue of a tie-breaker (Houston won the season series 3-1). They could lock up the No. 6 seed by defeating the Suns on Monday and Lakers on Wednesday, so Parsons seems like a safe fantasy play in the final week of the season.
Playing 20 minutes off the bench on Sunday, Terrence Jones racked up nine points, three rebounds, three steals and five blocks in a win vs. the Kings. His defensive stats make this a terrific line for fantasy purposes, in spite of the low boards. The rookie has quietly crept into the fantasy picture in April and his averages should be kept in mind on draft day -- 9.0 points, 0.5 threes, 6.7 boards, 1.3 steals and 1.5 blocks in just 25 minutes per game.

Parsons should be put back in all fantasy lineups. Terrence Jones and Francisco Garcia figure to lose value.

The Grizzlies put some good D on Harden and there's no doubt that Memphis's top-ranked D in the Western Conference kept Harden's offense in check. Harden has an inside track to be the third pick in drafts next year and he's obviously earned his max deal.

Coach Kevin McHale said he doesn't want a mild strain to turn into a pull and 3-4 weeks on the sidelines. It leaves Carlos Delfino, who is back from an illness Friday, as a speculative plug-n-play.

Carlos Delfino (flu) returned to a full practice on Thursday. Delfino has been fighting the flu for about a week, but it's a great sign he's back in practice. He should be able to go on Friday against Memphis as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks.
Chandler Parsons (calf) and Carlos Delfino (flu) are both practicing on Thursday. The Rockets play the Grizzlies on Friday, and it's possible he'll be back for that one, but Parsons did say he won't rush it so we're considering him questionable until we hear otherwise. Delfino should be ready for Friday's game after dealing with an illness for nearly a week.
Chandler Parsons (calf) thinks he may have overdone it in his rehab and is hopeful he'll return before the end of the season. Instead of practicing with his teammates Wednesday, Parsons strictly focused on his rehab. "I've been trying so bad to get back, to have my recovery quickly, I think I've overdone it a little bit, because it's so sore," Parsons said Wednesday. The Rockets are off until Friday but have only four games left before the playoffs. With a postseason spot locked up, it's possible the Rockets might rest Parsons until the postseason begins.
Harden scored 33 points in Houston's 101-98 win over the Suns on Tuesday, as his 3-point attempt at the buzzer was goaltended to give the Rockets the victory. Harden continues to make a living at the free-throw line, going 13 of 14 in Tuesday's victory. He leads the NBA in free-throw rate, attempting an average of 10.1 shots from the charity stripe each game.
James Harden shot 9-of-21 from the field and 13-of-14 from the line in Tuesday's 101-98 win over the Suns, scoring 33 points with six boards, six assists, three steals, one block and two 3-pointers in 44 minutes. He hit a game-winning three that was called due to basket interference by Jermaine O'Neal. Harden is one of the most efficient scorers in the NBA thanks largely to his league-leading 10.1 free throw attempts per game. He is fifth in the league in scoring and he's a good bet to be off the board with the third pick of fantasy drafts next year.
Omer Asik grabbed 22 boards in a win over the Suns on Tuesday, adding eight points, two steals and two blocks in 38 minutes. He leads the NBA in total rebounds with 914 and is ranked third in rebounds per game behind Dwight Howard and Nikola Vucevic. Asik doesn't have many skills on offense, but his 1.1 blocks make him a must-start in standard leagues.
Greg Smith played 28 minutes against the Suns on Tuesday and had 12 points, five boards, one steal and one block. He's been useful for the Rockets lately and he's leapfrogged Donatas Motiejunas (no points and six minutes) and Thomas Robinson (DNP-CD). Smith will have a lower upside, but with the Rockets leading the NBA in pace, he should have plenty of chances to produce stats.
Francisco Garcia scored 15 points with one board, two assists, one steal and three 3-pointers in 36 minutes on Tuesday. Cisco got plenty of burn with Chandler Parsons (calf) and Carlos Delfino (illness). Garcia will go back to a reserve role once Parsons comes back, so there's very little reason to pick him up.
Carlos Delfino (flu-like symptoms) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Suns. Delfino has now missed four straight games with this mysterious illness. Chandler Parsons (calf) is also out, making Francisco Garcia a streaming option. Las Vegas has set the over/under in this game at 213.5, the highest total of the night.
Royce White is unlikely to play for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers during the postseason, sources told Mark Berman of Fox 26. White is not going to spend a single second on the court for the Rockets during the regular season and it's not clear what his future holds after an up-and-down first year. His contract is guaranteed for next season.
Carlos Delfino (flu) did not participate in shootaround on Tuesday and is 50-50 to play against the Suns. Delfino did not play on Saturday against the Nuggets and he must be dealing with a really bad flu bug to still be feeling the effects. With Chandler Parsons (calf) already out, Francisco Garcia, Terrence Jones and James Anderson should all see even more minutes if Delfino sits.

This means Francisco Garcia is likely to draw another start, but keep an eye on rookie Terrence Jones, who has displayed impressive versatility in two of his last three games. Other guys like Patrick Beverley and James Anderson will also help to fill the void left by Parsons.
Rockets assign F Tim Ohlbrecht to the D-League. This has zero fantasy relevance in every format.

Both guys are questionable to return vs. the Suns on Tuesday -- Parsons was "optimistic" that he'd be able to return, but that was contingent upon his practicing on Monday. Fantasy owners should make contingency plans -- if neither guy suits up, Francisco Garcia will once again be an excellent spot-start.
Chandler Parsons (calf) sounded optimistic when discussing his status Sunday. Parsons sat out Saturday as the Rockets got throttled in Denver. He's hoping to practice on Monday and suit up on Tuesday. "Obviously, I want to play, especially when we play like we did (on Saturday)," he said. "I think I could help the team. And it's starting to feel better. It's not as sore, not as tender to the touch." We'll have more details on Parsons' status following Monday's workout.
Harden had a rough go on Saturday, hitting 2 of 10 shots for 14 points in the Rockets' 132-114 loss to the Nuggets. Harden is 20 of 50 from the floor in three games after sitting out two with an ankle injury,
Lin turned in his second straight 20-plus point performance, scoring 23 on 8-of-15 shooting in Denver's 132-114 win over Houston on Saturday. Lin is off to a great start in the month of April, averaging 19.8 points on 50.9 percent shooting, including a 9-of-20 clip from 3-point range (45.0 percent).
Jeremy Lin led the Rockets with 23 points and eight assists on Saturday, making 8-of-15 FGs with two 3-pointers, but it wasn't enough to beat the Nuggets in Denver. Lin has elevated his game lately, averaging 19.8 points, 2.3 threes, 2.5 rebounds, 9.3 assists and 0.8 steals in the Rockets last four games. Backup PG Patrick Beverley added seven points and nine assists of his own tonight, playing 22 minutes, and both guys were able to co-exist because the Rockets deployed an array of small lineups.
Greg Smith, who scored 19 points on Friday, flopped with just six points and four boards in Saturday's loss in Denver. Smith played under 13 minutes tonight, roughly on par with fellow PFs Thomas Robinson (five points in 12 minutes) and Donatas Motiejunas (12 points in 16 minutes). The picture has been muddled further by the arrival of D-League callup Terrence Jones, who trumped them all tonight with 13 points in 28 minutes. With so many guys vying for minutes, it's a situation to avoid.
Francisco Garcia scored 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from downtown vs. the Nuggets, playing 28 minutes in a fill-in start at SF. Garcia is worth deploying as long as Chandler Parsons (calf) is out, and tonight he also didn't have to worry about Carlos Delfino (flu). If you own Cisco, be sure to routinely check Houston's injury report.
James Harden scored just 14 points in Houston's loss to Denver on Saturday, but he made 10-of-10 free throws and in the process set a new franchise record for FTs made in a single season (621). Harden broke Moses Malone's old free throw record, and he leads the NBA this season with 8.6 makes on 10.1 attempts per game. Unfortunately, the Rockets' four-game win streak was snapped as they gave up 132 points to the Nuggets.
