"Chris and I have seen each other a few times after the season and that's something we've discussed," Barnes said on the radio, referring to Chris Paul. "I'm going to sit down and talk to my family and see where the market's at." Although Barnes would like to return, he may leave the team if he finds a multi-year offer elsewhere to his liking. This is the second time Barnes has hinted Paul will re-sign, and while that's the expectation, CP3 hasn't come right out and said it. Clippers VP Gary Sacks met with free agent Chris Paul Saturday and said he's "very confident" that the All-Star point guard will re-sign. Paul is eligible to sign a five-year, $108 million extension with the Clippers beginning on July 1. He may flirt with some other clubs, but in the end we'd be very surprised if CP3 didn't return to the Clips. The most any other team can offer Paul is four years and $79.9 million. The main reason he turned down the Clippers' three-year, $60 million offer last season was because he wanted to hold out for the five-year max contract. |

It would be an unmitigated disaster if the Suns hire a player on the heels of his retirement to waltz into a general manager's job. The Phoenix roster is an absolute abomination and the team sorely needs someone who has had front office experience. It's unclear how serious the Suns are about hiring Hill or if Hill even has an interest in the job, but Phoenix should be aiming higher. |

A Clippers official reportedly told HoopsHype that "This is Chris's roster" in regards to Paul's impending free agency. It wouldn't be the first time we've heard that CP3 has definitive sway in the front office. The overwhelming expectation remains that Paul will re-sign with the Clippers, but the point guard said he'd take his time during the offseason and do what was best for his future. It would be a surprise to see him bolt the Clippers for another team. Clippers VP of basketball operations Gary Sacks said he's "very confident" Paul will re-sign.
Matt Barnes suggested that he and fellow free agent Chris Paul "have already been talking about" re-signing with the Clippers next season. "He's obviously the franchise player but we also talked about what I was thinking about doing," said Barnes. "Without giving anything away, he was doing his job [in recruiting me]." For his part, CP3 has consistently said that he's unsure what he'll do this summer.
Chauncey Billups said he feels "as good as he has in two years," and he hopes to play two more years in the NBA. The 37-year-old veteran hopes to re-sign with the Clippers, after which he wants to move into a front-office job. "My desire has never been to coach," he said. "I would feel better about being in management and putting a team together." As for the rest of his playing career, staying healthy remains the obvious key to Billups' success.
Chauncey Billups will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, but he said that he "would love to be back" with the Clippers next season. L.A.'s disappointing first-round exit doesn't seem to have swayed Billups, who has said all along that he wants to re-sign with the Clippers. He admitted that he wasn't 100 percent healthy during the playoffs, which was glaringly obvious as he averaged a mere 6.2 points on 30.6 percent
Grant Hill still isn't sure whether he'll retire this summer. It was previously reported that Hill was "expected" to retire after 2012-13, but his quotes after the Clippers' playoff exit leave the door open for a return. "For the last four or five years I've been year to year," Hill said. "One plus is that I didn't play a lot this year, so instead of a 40-year-old body, I have a 38-year-old body."
Chris Paul (thumb) played 41 minutes in the Clippers' elimination loss to the Grizzlies in Game 6 on Friday, scoring 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting with four rebounds, eight assists and a steal. Paul looked great though the Clippers made a tactical error in going away from him late, and the Clippers will now enter the offseason trying to re-sign Paul and most likely trying to find a new coach. Matt Barnes scored a playoff career-best 30 points, while Jamal Crawford played just 12 scoreless minutes on an 0-for-5 shooting night.
Blake Griffin (ankle) played 14 eventful minutes in Friday's Game 6 elimination loss, scoring nine points on 3-of-5 shooting to go with three rebounds. Griffin had four fouls and ended up wrastlin' on the floor with Z-Bo on a play in which both players could get calls from the league office (though both guys stayed in the game). Griffin's injury was just about the worst thing that could have happened to the Clippers given the Grizzlies' strength on the interior, and it's a disappointing ending for a team that could have made some noise in the depleted West.
Blake Griffin (ankle) will not start in Friday's elimination Game 6, but could play depending on how he feels and how things go in the game. Lamar Odom will start in his place and this injury has been a major blow for the Clippers' playoff hopes. It's going to take a herculean effort from his teammates to get the job done in Memphis tonight.
Chris Paul reiterated that he has no concerns with his sprained thumb heading into Friday's Game 6 against the Grizzlies. "It's fine. It'll be better tonight," Paul said Friday morning. "I've had some time." The damage is on CP3's left (non-shooting) side. We wouldn't expect him to be limited whatsoever as the Clips face an elimination game.
A Clippers source tells ESPN Los Angeles that Blake Griffin (ankle) "really is 50-50" for Friday's Game 6 against the Grizzlies. The high right ankle sprain Griffin sustained during Monday's practice is the worst of his career. He went through a light workout Friday morning, but that doesn't tell us much. Even if Griffin does suit up, we wouldn't expect a full complement of minutes and touches. Lamar Odom is going to play a major role in Game 6.
Blake Griffin said his current ankle sprain is the worst one he's ever had. Griffin's sprain appears to be of the "high" variety. He lasted just 19 minutes in Game 5 and would undoubtedly take some significant time off if this were the regular season. Officially, Griffin is a game-time call for Friday's Game 6. We'll know his status around 8:30pm ET. If he can't go, Lamar Odom will draw the start.
Paul had tape wrapped round his bruised left thumb at Friday's shootaround. The Clippers guard says he thinks he'll be better by tipoff for Game 6 against the Memphis Grizzlies. His treatment? Praying over his thumb.
Griffin still is limping with his sprained right ankle and it will be a game-time decision whether the Clippers forward plays Game 6 against the Grizzlies. Griffin walked off the court carrying a bag of ice once Friday's shoot-around opened up. He later returned and sat on the opposite side of the court away from reporters. Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro says Griffin will warm up to see how effective the forward can be after spraining his ankle Monday. Griffin didn't play the fourth quarter of Tuesday night's 103-93 win by Memphis, and the Grizzlies lead the series 3-2.
Lamar Odom had strong words for his Clippers teammates in advance of a do-or-die Game 6 on Friday vs. the Grizzlies. "I don't know if it's just about [lack of] intensity," he said. "It might be more about paying attention to detail and understanding what sacrifice is and how to sacrifice yourself for the team." It's pretty rich that Odom would be the one to speak on the issue given the effort he provided in Dallas last year and the fact that he showed up to Clippers training camp overweight and out of shape, but at least someone is talking. Odom added he's tried to take a leadership role all year, but some of his advance has "fallen on deaf ears." The Clippers are up against it and the Grizzlies smell blood in the water with Game 6 in Memphis.
Courtney Fortson, who was an All-Star in the D-League this season, revealed that he will not play in the D-League next year. "It's either the NBA, Europe or China for me. But the D-League is not an option right now," he said. It's hard to blame Fortson after he lit up the league and couldn't get a call up, but his small stature is working against him as he tries to climb back into the NBA.

Chris Paul might need a super-human effort to save off elimination Friday night.

If Blake Griffin (ankle) can't play in Friday's Game 6, Lamar Odom would "probably" start in his place. Yikes. Odom hasn't received a blurb since the end of February, a telling indication of how valuable he's been for fantasy owners this season. If Griffin can't go, the Clippers will need just about everyone to step up, Odom included.
An MRI revealed that Blake Griffin has a moderate right ankle sprain and he is a game-time decision for Game 6 on Friday. He had an X-ray and the results were negative and the MRI confirmed that he's not dealing with a garden-variety sprain. The specifics have yet to be disclosed, but Griffin does have a very real chance of missing Game 6 in Memphis. The Clippers are going to be in deep trouble without their big man and will count on guys like Lamar Odom and Ronny Turiaf to combat Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph. They scored just 82.5 points per game with Griffin in the lineup for Game 3 and 4, so they certainly have their work cut out for themselves.

Although, with the way teams are cautiously resting players these days, we're expecting Blake to rest in at least one game during the rest of the regular season.

He went toe to toe with the league's leading rebounder and topped Dwight Howard by a total of 13-4. Matt Barnes (ankle) had seven points, two boards and two steals in 20 minutes on Wednesday. It's nice to see him healthy, and he's safe to continue using as you have been.
Blake Griffin (sore calf) finished an easy win vs. the Suns with nine points, five rebounds, seven assists and one steal in 27 minutes. Griffin still has a bit of swelling in his calf but that was hardly the reason for tonight's quiet line -- L.A. quickly had the game under control and nobody on their team cracked 30 minutes.
The Suns had no answer for DeAndre Jordan on Wednesday, as he piled up 20 points on 10-of-15 shooting, with 12 rebounds and one block in under 30 minutes. It's not a huge surprise considering the Suns ran Luis Scola out as their starting center again. Jordan was scoreless in his last game, and his next two matchups are vs. Dwight Howard and the Lakers, and Nikola Pekovic and the Wolves.
Eric Bledsoe caught fire in 22 minutes vs. the Suns, scoring 17 points with seven assists, two steals and one block. He knocked down 8-of-14 shots with one 3-pointer and it looks like his nagging injuries are behind him, which is terrific news for the Clippers as they gear up for a deep playoff run.
Paul had just 15 points but displayed masterful control of the offense as usual, recording 12 assists with no turnovers in the Clippers' 126-101 win over the Suns on Wednesday. Paul's assist average of 9.6 ranks second in the league this season but is only his fifth-best personal mark, showing just how good he's been over the course of his career.
