| Buckeyes' defense looking for a few good leaders |
|---|

Running back Dan Herron ran for 141 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's win over Indiana. Herron had to split carries equally with two other Buckeyes, but he made the most of his carries. He averaged 10.1 yards per carry on his 14 touches, including a 15-yard touchdown run. The senior was the day's leader for the three-headed rushing attack of Ohio State, outrunning Braxton Miller and Carlos Hyde.
NCAA suspensions will keep Ohio State running back Daniel Herron and receiver DeVier Posey out of the Nebraska game.
The suspensions of Ohio State running back Daniel Herron and receiver DeVier Posey may last one more game pending results of additional NCAA probe. Herron and Posey were part of the mess involving Terrelle Pryor that resulted in five-game suspensions at the start of the season. Now, with the Buckeyes' offense in desperate need of a spark, the pair may have to wait one more game as a result of another NCAA probe. This comes after Ohio State's 10-7 home loss to Michigan State in which the offense could only manage 178 yards. Last season, Herron ran for 1,155 yards and 16 TDs and Posey caught 53 passes, including 7 for touchdowns.
Ohio State coach Luke Fickell indicated that senior Joe Bauserman would likely start against Akron on Saturday. Freshman Braxton Miller should also see plenty of time against the visiting Zips. Neither quarterback is listed as No. 1, but rather side-by-side on the depth chart. Each brings something different to the table with Miller more capable of making something happen out of the pocket. Bauserman, who has not started a game, has thrown for 320 yards and 2 TDs in career.
Ohio State made it clear that Terrelle Pryor wouldn't play a down in 2011 if he returned to school due to failure to cooperate with the NCAA's investigation of Ohio State. Terrelle Pryor received a letter from Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith declaring the star quarterback would be ineligible for the 2011 season, had he returned for his senior season, for not cooperating with NCAA officials in their investigation of OSU. While the letter states that Pryor is banned from using team facilities, contacting recruits and receiving complementary tickets to home games, Smith made it clear Pryor can still use campus facilities writing, "I would encourage you to complete your degree." Pryor will likely enter the 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft.
QB Terrelle Pryor announced Tuesday that he will not play for Ohio State University this fall. Transferring to another university is unlikely since Pryor is required to serve his five-game suspension at any NCAA school. Dropping to an NAIA program is another option, as is entering the NFL's supplemental draft. Highly-touted incoming freshman Braxton Miller is the favorite to take over for Pryor, whose absence significantly downgrades the fantasy value of Ohio State's remaining offensive players.
It's unlikely that any NFL team would be willing to use a high pick on Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor if he decides to enter the supplemental draft. The NFL's supplemental draft is slated to take place in July, and with Pryor facing a five-game suspension from the NCAA, there's a chance he could enter the pool. Of course, according to former Cowboys vice president Gil Brandt, Pryor would likely draw nothing more than a third- or fourth-round pick from any interested club. Those hoping to nab him as a late-season fantasy option now have one more hurdle to clear.
Things just keep getting murkier for Terrelle Pryor and Vehiclegate. According to recent findings, Pryor has been driving on a suspended license. It appears that Pryor's license was suspended for no proof of insurance and is in effect through mid-August. Wow. This is getting ugly.
Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel resigned Tuesday. Tressel was already facing a five-game suspension for providing false information to NCAA investigators, and he'll now turn the program over to interim head coach Luke Fickell. The loss of Tressel certainly won't help a team that will already be missing a few impact starters, including QB Terrelle Pryor, for the first five games of the 2011 season. Expect plenty of rust when the "Buckeye Five" return against Nebraska.
The NCAA served Ohio State with aÿ"notice of allegations" stemming fromÿcurrent and former players selling memorabilia to a local tattoo parlor, according to the Columbus Dispatch. The NCAA states thatÿhead coach Jim Tresselÿknowingly provided false information to the NCAA and Ohio State fielded ineligible players last season. Ohio State could face a post-season ban or have to forfeit their share of the 2010 Big Ten title. The NCAA could also expand on Coach Tressel's five-game suspension. Ohio State will meet with the NCAA infractions committee onÿAug. 12.ÿÿHowever,ÿTerrelle Pryor, Daniel Herron, DeVier Posey, Mike Adams, Solomon Thomas and Jordan Whiting will not face any further suspensions. They are suspended for the first five games of the 2011 season.
A rumor has been making the rounds today that Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor is considering entering the supplemental draft (if there even is one this year), instead of returning for his senior year. However the rumor was shot down quickly by Adam Jardy of Buckeye Sports Bulletin via twitter: "Talked to someone very close to Terrelle Pryor who told me he has never once mentioned the Supplemental Draft. Stop that rumor right now." Let's think about this one for a minute. Unlike the Michael Floyd situation -- who isn't going to enter the supplemental draft either after all but being reinstated by Notre Dame last week -- Pryor's situation has not changed since he decided to come back. Unless you've been booted from the team, the supplemental draft is typically not a wise option for college players.
Florida running back coach/recruiting coordinator Stan Drayton, an Ohio native, has decided to become the wide receiver coach at Ohio State.ÿ Drayton will likely open up further Buckeye avenues down south. Jim Tressel welcomed his new addition by deeming him (see if you can imagine him saying this) "first and foremost a fine person and family man."
Quarterback Terrelle Pryor, running back Daniel Herron, receiver DeVier Posey, left tackle Mike Adams and defensive end Solomon Thomas have all kept their pledge to coach Jim Tressell to return to Ohio State for the 2011 season. Color me shocked. I figured having to sit out the first five games of the season and the lure of the NFL would cause one or two to renege on their commitment. I give them all credit for holding true to their word.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor will undergo surgery to stabilize a ligament in his right foot after hurting it in the Sugar Bowl. Pryor will have plenty of time to heal as he serves his five game suspension at the beginning of the season.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor, running back Daniel Herron, receiver DeVier Posey, left tackle Mike Adams and defensive end Solomon Thomas have all pledged to return to the Buckeyes for 2011, according to coach Jim Tressel. Apparently Tressel told the five players -- who are suspended for the first five game of the 2011 season -- that they needed to make a decision regarding their future before the Sugar Bowl. While this sounds all fine and dandy, Buckeye fans might want to wait till after Jan. 15 to start to celebrate. Given the circumstances, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up leaving anyway.
As quickly as the rumor of Ohio State coach Jim Tressel's demise started, the flames were quickly doused by Buckeyes Athletic Director Gene Smith's tweet: "Merry Xmas everyone!! Go back to drinking your eggnog!! Rumors not true." As we originally suspected, the rumors appear to be the by-product of negative recruiting.
The NCAA has suspended Ohio State football players Daniel Herron, DeVier Posey, Terrelle Pryor, Mike Adams and Solomon Thomas for the first five games of the 2011 season. Jordan Whiting was suspended for one game. They also must repay benefits received ranging between $1,000 to $2,500 to charity. Looking for a bright side? None of the players will be suspended for the AllState Sugar Bowl on Jan. 4. However, given the length of the suspensions you have to wonder if Pryor, Herron and Posey will consider forgoing their senior seasons and enter the 2011 NFL Draft.
Several sources are reporting that Ohio State officials are looking into possible extra benefits for football players at a local tattoo parlor. Of course there is no official confirmation as to who is potentially involved, but names like quarterback Terrelle Pryor, running back Daniel Herron and receiver DeVier Posey are being tossed about. "I paid for my tattoos," Pryor said on his twitter account. You can bet there will be more on this story in the coming days.
The Big Ten unveiled their new logo and division names today. In all there are three versions a vertical, horizontal and 'new media' logo. The Legends division will feature Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern. The Leaders division will feature Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor threw for 220 yards and two touchdowns and added another 49 yards on the ground in the Buckeyes win over Michigan. Pryor completed 18 of 27 passes and was only intercepted once. Pryor likely will face an SEC opponent in Ohio State's upcoming bowl game.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor had 273 yards of offense with a touchdown and two interceptions, but brought Ohio State back in the fourth quarter to beat Iowa. Pryor had a long touchdown dropped by DeVier Posey, but still led the Buckeyes back to victory. Unfortunately, his fantasy numbers were average at best.
Ohio State running back Daniel Herron ran for 69 yards and the game winning touchdown against Iowa on Saturday. Herron has now scored a touchdown in 10 consecutive games. He is a must start against Michigan next week.
Ohio State running back Daniel Herron carried 21 times for 190 yards and a touchdown in a win over Penn State. Herron has been amazing this season, and was the best player on the field Saturday. He has now scored 13 touchdowns on the year, and more are on the way.
Ohio State wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher caught one pass for 58 yards, but it went to the house as Ohio State defeated Penn State. The best part about the play was that the pass was intended for DeVier Posey, but was tipped to Sanzenbacher in an otherwise perfect coverage for the Lions.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor will return for his senior season. "I feel like I want to get my degree and finish off strong and maybe have a better season next year with no losses," he said. Good news for Buckeye fans and fantasy owners. He has 1,997 passing yards, 463 rushing yards, 19 receiving yards, and 25 touchdowns through nine games. He should once again be one of the top fantasy players in 2011.
Ohio State running back Daniel Herron ran for 114 yards and a touchdown in the win over Minnesota. Herron has now scored in eight consecutive games for the Buckeyes. Start him every week.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor completed 18 of 22 passes for 222 yards while rushing for another 55 with three total touchdowns in a win over Minnesota. I think we've all figured out when Pryor is going to struggle and when he'll have his big games. Just check the record of the opposing team.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor is looking forward to the bye next week to rest his sore quad. First Pryor & Co. need to get past Minnesota. Pryor only had four rushing attempts last week. Look for more of the same against the Gophers, which is good news for running back Daniel Herron.
Ohio State wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher caught four passes for 86 yards and a touchdown in a win over Purdue on Saturday. Sanzenbacher now has eight touchdowns on the year as he continues to be the main target for quarterback Terrelle Pryor.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor threw for 270 yards and three touchdowns, but was picked off twice against Purdue. Pryor is obviously still bothered by his quad injury, as he's rushed for a total of 35 yards over his last three games. This isn't what owners signed up for when they took Pryor on draft day.
Ohio State running back Daniel Herron ran 16 times for 74 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Purdue. Herron may not be getting the yards, but his touchdown pace has been impressive. Herron now has 11 touchdowns on the year, and has scored at least twice in each of his last three games.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor threw for 156 yards and ran for 56 yards with just one touchdown against Wisconsin. Pryor completed just 50 percent of his passes and averaged just over three YPC against the Badger defense. The Buckeyes' national title hopes weren't the only things that went up in smoke Saturday night - - so did Pryor's Heisman chances.
Ohio State running back Daniel Herron ran 19 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to Wisconsin on Saturday. Herron is quietly having a nice fantasy season, scoring nine times so far on the ground. If for some reason he's a free agent in your BCS league, get him now.
Ohio State wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher caught four passes for 60 yards and a touchdown against the Hoosiers. Sanzenbacher has now scored in three straight games and has seven touchdowns overall on the season.
Ohio State running back Daniel Herron carried 12 times for 68 yards and two touchdowns in the Buckeyes' win over Indiana. Herron is becoming a legitimate RB3 in BCS formats, and now has seven touchdowns on the season. If you need help, go grab him.
Ohio State running back Brandon Saine did not have a carry against Indiana, but did catch four passes for 84 yards and a touchdown. Saine is an excellent receiving back, but he's not one you can count on every single week. It was was the first time since 2008 that Saine did not receive a single carry.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor threw for a career high 334 yards with three touchdowns in a win over Indiana. Pryor, nursing a left thigh injury, showed he can do damage without having to run. It was the Indiana defense, but still a nice day for Terrelle.
"He's been 100 percent," Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said about quarterback Terrelle Pryor (quad). "He was ready to rock and roll." Based on Pryor's comments earlier in the week, it is hard to believe he'll be 100 percent this week against Indiana. Don't be surprised if Pryor doesn't rush the ball as much as usual.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressell says that quarterback Terrelle Pryor is "closer to 100 percent each day" and that he thinks "he'll be fine" this week against Indiana. Keep in mind "closer to 100 percent" is pretty ambiguous. Despite coach Tressell's optimistic comments, I don't expect Pryor to be doing a whole lot of running this week. Even against the nation's 108th ranked rush defense.
A status updated on Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor (quad) is expected to come on Tuesday. Pryor admitted that the only thing he could do at the end of the game last week was hand off. That is not a good sign.
"Hopefully, we get the right treatment going, so I'll be fine and back to myself," Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor said about his strained left quadriceps. Pryor was clearly limited at the end after returning to the game. And anything that will limit Pryor's ability to run is not good for fantasy owners.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor ran for 104 yards and threw for 76 yards with two touchdowns in a win over Illinois. Pryor left the game briefly with an injury to his left quadriceps, but the alarming part was his lack of offense after he did return. Keep an eye on this one, because if Pryor can't run, his production goes way down.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor threw for 224 yards, ran for 104 yards, and added 20 yards receiving with six total touchdowns in Ohio State's rout over Eastern Michigan. It was a triple crown day for Pryor, as he threw for four touchdowns, ran for one and caught a 20-yard touchdown pass.
Ohio State wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher caught nine passes for 108 yards and four touchdowns against Eastern Michigan. Nobody saw this performance coming, as quarterback Terrelle Pryor looked for Sanzenbacher early and often. Sanzenbacher had seven career touchdown catches coming in to this one.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor completed 22 passes for 235 yards and two scores while adding 35 yards on the ground with another touchdown in a blow out win over Ohio University. Pryor set an Ohio State record by completing 16 straight passes during the game, breaking Craig Krenzel's record of 12 straight set back in 2002.
Ohio State running backs Daniel Herron and Brandon Saine split snaps pretty evenly as the Buckeyes took care of Miami. Herron gained 66 yards on 14 carries (with a score) while Saine could only muster 12 yards on seven carries, though he caught a touchdown. From a fantasy perspective we still believe Saine to be the better week-to-week bet, though this job share appears to be here to stay.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor threw for 233 yards and rushed for another 113, accounting for two total touchdowns in Ohio State's dominating win over Miami (FL). Pryor was not very accurate, completing just 12 of 27 passes, but every play he made was big. He's proving his worth.
Ohio State running back Brandon Saine only had nine carries in win over Marshall Thursday night but he made the most of them, scoring twice and racking up 103 yards. Saine got most of the work in the first half when it mattered the most. He seems to have pulled ahead of Daniel Herron, who had three first half carries, and Jaamal Berry.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns against Marshall Thursday night. Those expecting huge rushing numbers from Pryor didn't get it, but a solid game nonetheless. Next week will be a better indication of how much Pryor has improved when Ohio State takes on Miami.
The Big Ten has announced its new conference alignments which include a division featuring Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin, and a division featuring Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern. Cross divisional matchups: Illinois-Northwestern, Indiana-Michigan State, Ohio State-Michigan, Penn State-Nebraska, Purdue-Iowa and Wisconsin-Minnesota will also be protected each year. The conference elected to not go with a geographical split which would have likely ended up with a competitive imbalance. The new divisions appear fair and balanced to this Big Ten fan.
The Plain Dealer has a good article on Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor. In it Pryor comments on how he came to Ohio State "a little arrogant" and now he feels more "humble." He also noted that he feels more like a true quarterback this year and plans on returning for his senior season. It's hard not to come into the situation a little arrogant considering all the hype that surrounded him in high school. Pryor is developing into a solid quarterback and staying for his senior year would certainly benefit him from a passing standpoint.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel tells Doug Lesmerises of The Cleveland Plain Dealer that Terrelle Pryor will "throw a lot more than his sophomore year." He later put the number of passes between 25-30 per game. I make it a point of believing what men in sweater vests say. However it's very unlikely Pryor puts the ball up that many times per game, especially with the type of defense that will be taking the field in Columbus.
"It was minor surgery," Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor he told The Associated Press about his offseason knee surgery. "It's never going to be 100 percent ever again for anybody who gets any type of surgery or anything like that. But you should definitely bounce back and be a high percentage and keep going. That's where I am right now, I feel pretty good." A bit of an odd statement by Pryor, but he should be ready to go this fall.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor has lost 10 lbs. and says he feels "pretty good" after February's minor surgery. Pryor is clearly the top fantasy quarterback in the Big Ten, and he's poised for a huge statistical campaign.
ESPN's Adam Rittenberg compares the careers of Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor and former Texas quarterback Vince Young. Rittenberg notes that like Pryor, Young had a terrific performance in the Rose Bowl his sophomore year and this was a springboard for more success his junior season. Pryor certainly looked like a different quarterback in the Rose Bowl win over Oregon. If he can continue to play at that level, he'll be unstoppable.
The Buckeye defense dominated the offense in Ohio State's scrimmage on Saturday. The defense forced three fumbles, including a recovery for the games only touchdown, and one interception. Quarterback Terrelle Pryor was sacked four times and completed only 5-of-15 passed for 45 yards. With eight home games and non-conference games against Marshall, Ohio and Eastern Michigan, the Buckeyes should be a top five fantasy defense next fall.
With running backs Brandon Saine (hamstring), Carlos Hyde (hamstring) and Jermil Martin (asthma) unable to practice on Thursday, Daniel Herron saw his workload increase. You would think with the injuries the talk would be about redshirt freshman Jaamal Berry's presence in practice, but Herron is clearly still the Buckeyes' workhorse back.
Quarterback Terrelle Pryor (knee) was at practice as Ohio State kicked off spring drills on Thursday. There has been a lot of speculation on the severity of Pryor's knee injury this offseason, but all seems to be well.
"(Terrelle Pryor) is fine. We had a 6 a.m. workout this morning. He was there, and he did the whole workout with a weighted vest on. Now I'm starting to worry about his intelligence," Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said of his star quarterback. There has been concern that Pryor's knee was worse than being reported.ÿ So far everything seems fine.
Doug Lesmerises of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor is still sitting on the shelf, three weeks after surgery on his left knee. We're still one month away from the start of Buckeye spring ball, so this shouldn't be cause for concern...yet. However any time a quarterback with a ceiling as high as Pryor's misses any time there are lost opportunities.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee to repair a partial tear of his posterior cruciate ligament. Pryor is expected to be ready for spring practice. It was apparent Pryor wasn't quite right after injuring his knee and ankle in Week Nine against New Mexico State, but he did not miss a game. It wasn't until the Rose Bowl that Pryor looked like his old self.
ESPN's Adam Rittenberg lists Ohio State running back Jaamal Berry as one of his players to watch in 2010. Berry redshirted last year after suffering a hamstring injury before the season began. As Rittenberg points out, Brandon Saine and Daniel Herron played well last year, but if Berry is as good as advertised, he could be the game changer the Buckeyes are looking for.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor talks about his injured knee and the the upcoming season in a series of video interviews on The Plain Dealer. "It's hurting, you know," Pryor said of his knee and plans to have it reevaluated by a doctor soon. Though he doesn't believe he will need surgery.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor told The Plain Dealer that he's been playing with a partial tear in his PCL (which leg wasn't specified) and that he's "hurting everywhere." No mention was made of any potential off-season surgery. Pryor will need to play well in order for the Buckeyes to keep up with the high-flying Ducks. He'll then have a whole lot of time to rest up.
Ohio State wide receiver/punt returner Ray Small and backup defensive lineman Robert Rose are expected to miss the Rose Bowl against Oregon due to a violation of team rules, this according to the Columbus Dispatch. The biggest impact of the possible suspensions will be felt on special teams, where Small is the starting punt returner. Wide receiver depth may also be an issue as Duron Carter will also miss the game due to a previous suspension.
CNNSI.com reports that ten Buckeyes are having their draft stock evaluated, with running back Brandon Saine and wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher among the group. Jim Tressel has always been in favor of his players checking out their options, so this is no shock. If Saine and Sanzenbacher do decide to take the plunge then we'd deem that a little surprising.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel has decided to not make sophomore quarterback Terrelle Pryor available to talk to the media as the Buckeyes prepare for the Rose Bowl against Oregon. We'll guess that the Buckeye coach is familiar with this old quote: "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor (ankle) and running backs Daniel Herron (ankle) and Brandon Saine are expected to be at full strength versus Michigan on Saturday. I don't think anyone is ever full strength this time of year, but you get the picture. The news is certainly not getting any better for Michigan this week.
Ohio State running back Brandon Saine ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns, while fellow back Daniel Herron ran for 97 yards and a score in the overtime win over Iowa. The offensive line is starting to gel as the Buckeyes ran for over 225 yards as a team for the fourth consecutive week.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor still has pain in his left ankle but is expected to play this week against Iowa.
Pryor has been consistently finding the end zone in recent weeks. But with Pryor not 100 percent, he could find it tougher sledding this week against a stiff Hawkeye defense.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor accounted for 175 yards of offense with three total touchdowns in the Buckeyes win over Penn State. Despite all the "Terrelle Cryer" t-shirts in the stadium, Pryor went back to his home state and delivered the win. Two more Buckeye wins and they head to Pasadena
After losing starting kicker Aaron Pettrey (knee) for the season, Ohio State coach Jim Tressel will have Devin Barclay and Ben Buchanan battle this week for the right to kick against Penn State on Saturday. Whoever takes over the job for the Buckeyes should be avoided until he proves his ability to make kicks consistently.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor sat out the second half of last week's laugher with New Mexico State, though coach Jim Tressel expects his sophomore "not to be debilitated" this week. We'll officially list Pryor as "not debilitated" for this Saturday's contest, though he's a risk against a stout Penn State defense and a whole bunch of screaming crazy people in State College.
To update an earlier blub, Ohio State kicker Aaron Pettrey is out for the season after it was verified he tore the MCL on his right (kicking) knee. Walk on Devin Barclay is the new Ohio State kicker. If you need a kicker, you might want to look elsewhere.
Ohio State kicker Aaron Pettrey is expected to be ruled out for Saturday's game against Penn State. Devin Barclay will more than likely handle the kicking duties for the Buckeyes in his absence. This is a concern for Ohio State, as Barclay made just one of three attempts after replacing Pettrey in the second quarter against the Aggies, and points may be hard to come by in Happy Valley.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor saw his day against New Mexico State cut short due to a leg injury suffered in the 2nd quarter. The sophomore told The Cleveland Plain Dealer that "it's a little bump on my leg. I'll be fine." Despite Pryor's proclaimed clean bill of health, this is a situation we'll have to monitor, as any leg injury to this mobile quarterback could have an impact moving forward.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor threw for 135 yards and ran for another 83 with two combined touchdowns in Ohio State's win over New Mexico State. Pryor observed the second half in street clothes as he watched the Buckeye defense hold the Aggies to just 62 total yards.
Ohio State kicker Aaron Pettrey was carted off the field after suffering an apparent knee injury after being hit on an extra point attempt against New Mexico State in the second quarter. Walk on Devin Barclay has taken over and will kick for the rest of this game. Ohio State is calling the injury a sprain at this point, but check back later this week for details.
Ohio State runnng back Brandon Saine (concussion) has been cleared to play against New Mexico State on Saturday. Daniel Herron may also see some limited duty as he recovers from a high ankle sprain, but expect Saine and freshman Jordan Hall to see most of the work on Saturday.
"You never have enough tailbacks because tailbacks take a pounding unlike any other position," Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said. The Buckeyes will put that theory to test after losing Brandon Saine to a concussion last week against Minnesota. The Buckeyes have also been without starter Daniel Herron (ankle) for several weeks. If neither can play Saturday against New Mexico State, Jordan Hall and Jermil Martin will have to carry the load.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor threw for 239 yards, rushed for 104, and had three total touchdowns in Ohio State's win over Minnesota. Pryor had a nice rebound from a horrible game last week. He has another good match up next week against New Mexico State.
Ohio State running back Daniel Herron will miss a second straight game due to an ankle injury. Herron has just two carries in the last three games due to the injury. His backups haven't fared much better. Brandon Saine has yet to find the end zone despite starting the last three games.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel quickly shot down any discussion that he may point quarterback Terrelle Pryor to the bench. Pryor has struggled for much of the year while the Buckeye offense has looked stagnant. And while his fantasy value has certainly taken a hit, Pryor remains the Big Ten's most dynamic option at quarterback, thus the potential for a huge turnaround is always there.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor fumbled twice and threw two interceptions in an upset loss to Purdue. The Buckeye's offense seemed to never be in sync. Pryor did throw for 221 yards and a touchdown while rushing for another, so it was not a total lost cause for fantasy owners. For Buckeye fans however, that's a different story.
Ohio State running back Daniel Herron will miss Saturday's game against Purdue with an ankle injury.ÿ "We probably got set back a week or two," said coach Jim Tressel. Herron aggravated the injury last week against Wisconsin and only had two carries.ÿ Brandon Saine will get the start.
Ohio State running back Daniel Herron reinjured his left ankle Saturday against Wisconsin. Herron injured the ankle against Illinois in week four and has only carried the ball twice in the last two games.
ESPN.com reports that Ohio State will start Brandon Saine at tailback, though Daniel Herron is getting close to 100% health and should see snaps as well. Both Saine and Herron should be viewed as factors in deeper Big Ten leagues.
Ohio State running back Daniel Herron (ankle) returned to practice on Sunday. Herron did not play last week against Indiana. In his absence, Brandon Saine rushed for 113 yards on 17 carries
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in the Buckeyes' win at Indiana. Pryor was the dual threat everyone expects him to be, throwing for 159 yards and rushing for another 63.
Ohio State running back Daniel Herron will not start Saturday's contest against Indiana due to a sprained ankle.ÿÿ Brandon Saine will get the start in his place. It is unclear if Herron will miss the game entirely or not.ÿ Either way Saine looks like a good last minute waiver wire pickup if you need help at running back this week.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor accounted for just one touchdown against Illinois, throwing for 82 yards and rushing for 59.
Much of the game was played in heavy rainfall resulting in Pryor having zero yards passing in the first half.
Ohio State wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher hauled in five catches for 126 yards and two touchdowns in the Buckeyes' win over Toledo.
Sanzenbacher is averaging 26.8 YPC for the season and has found the end zone three times. He's one to watch if you need help at wide receiver.
Ohio State had 242 yards rushing as a team against Toledo, but the load continues to be shared.
Daniel Herron, Brandon Saine, and freshman Jordan Hall each saw significant time in the ballgame. Given the fact that quarterback Terrelle Pryor also takes carries, it is not wise to start any of the Ohio State running backs at this time.
Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor made up for his poor performance against USC, throwing for 262 yards and three scores while adding 110 yards and a TD on the ground in today's win over Toledo.
Pryor may be inconsistent, but how can you not start him just about every week knowing he can put up numbers like this?
After Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor took heat for his Vick-friendly comments following Saturday's win, Ohio State coach Jim Tressel stood up for his quarterback, saying that "there's probably not a more compassionate human being in the world than Terrelle." As those self-centered missionaries working with lepers in India wouldn't respond to our interview requests, we'll take Tressel's word and believe that Pryor may indeed be one of the world's most compassionate people.
Terrelle Pryor and Joe Bauserman combined for 17 completions to seven different wide receivers in the Buckeye win over Navy. A sign of things to come, or just plain vanilla before the big game against USC this weekend?
Buckeye Blog quotes Jim Tressel telling WBNS that the coach is thrilled with the the development of quarterback Terrelle Pryor, believing the sophomore is "the same athlete he was, maybe then some, but he's 10 times the quarterback he was." We have Terrelle Pryor as the third Big Ten fantasy quarterback, behind veterans Juice Williams and Daryll Clark. Though it would not surprise us at all to see Pryor bolt past his elders and emerge as the conference's top QB producer.
ESPN's Adam Rittenberg reports that Ohio State offensive lineman Justin Boren could miss up to three weeks with a sprained MCL. Boren, who made news with his parting shots when he transferred from Michigan, had been impressive in spring and summer camp. If this injury lingers then it could certainly impact the Buckeye offense, against Navy to open the season but certainly when the big, bad Trojans roll into Columbus.
Ohio State wide receiver Ray Small is expected to rejoin the football team on Friday. Small's delay in joining the team appears to be academically related. According to coach Jim Tressell, Small is not out of the woods just yet. "He gets to do everything he's asked
to do" before he can compete for starting spot Tressell said.
Ohio State wide receiver Ray Small did not report along with the other Buckeyes to the first day of camp. There are rumored academic issues at play. Further information will likely be available in the next day or two. Hopefully Small makes it back.
