Jordan White caught 13 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown, but Western Michigan lost to Purdue in the Little Caesars Bowl, 37-32. The nation's leading receiver coming in guaranteed he will be the leading receiver when the bowl season is over. White's 13 receptions gave him 140 on the season. It was the eighth time this year that the senior had double digits for catches and in each of those games he caught at least 12 passes. His 265 yards were a career-high, eclipsing the 238 he had at Toledo on Nov. 8. In addition to the 140 receptions, White had 1,901 yards and 17 TDs. The FBS record for receptions in a season is 155 by Bowling Green's Freddie Barnes in 2009 and the mark for receiving yards is held by Nevada's Trevor Insley, who had 2,060 also in `09.
Receiver Jordan White caught 16 passes for 238 yards and 3 TDs in a 66-63 loss at Toledo on Tuesday night. The Broncos' all-time leading receiver never had a game like this, but he's come close. It was the sixth time this season -- sixth! -- that White had double-digits in receptions and he has caught at least 12 passes in each instance. The senior has 99 receptions this season with 12 resulting in TDs. White has six 100-yard receiving games this season and 17 in his career.
Jordan White had 172 yards to lead three Western Michigan receivers with more than 100 yards. It was the third time this season White topped 170 yards and his fifth game of more than 100. He topped 1,000 yards for the season and he had 2 TDs to giving him 9 on the year.
Western Michigan wide receivers Jordan White and Juan Nunez both enjoyed statistical success once more as White took his seven catches for 110 yards and Nunez squeezed out 95 yards and a touchdown on eight grabs. Nunez is gone next year, but White will be back, which makes him a first tier option for next year.
The receiving tandem of Juan Nunez and Jordan White have proved to be unstoppable against most defenses and that continued tonight against Eastern Michigan. Nunez had four catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns while White had seven grabs for 134 yards and a score. These two should be started every week if you haven't already.
Western Michigan receivers Juan Nunez and Jordan White both eclipsed 100 yards receiving against Central Michigan tonight. Nunez led the team with 14 catches for 133 yards and a score while White chipped in nine grabs for 119 yards and two scores. White is the better fantasy option because he hauls in more touchdowns, but both players are worthy starters in most leagues.
Western Michigan wide receiver Jordan White proved once more to be quarterback Alex Carder's favorite target, this time against Northern Illinois. White had 14 catches for 180 yards and a touchdown in the loss. White is a top tier receiver due to the amount of targets he gets and the conference he plays in. He now has 22 catches for a boatload of yards and three scores in the last two weeks.
Juan Nunez and Jordan White both found plenty of room to roam for Western Michigan against the Akron secondary as Nunez hauled in six passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns with White adding eight grabs for 168 yards and two more scores. As long as Alex Carder keeps slinging it, both White and Nunez will be nice fantasy options.
Despite quarterback Alex Carder throwing four interceptions, receivers Juan Nunez and Jordan White both hauled in 13 receptions for 100 and 170 yards, respectively. Carder only threw one touchdown and that went to White. White is heavily targeted by Carder which makes him a nice option even when Carder struggles.
Jordan White has shown he is one of Alex Carder's favorite targets by catching six passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns as Western Michigan handled Nicholls State. In the past two games, White has caught 14 passes. If he can keep this up, he will find himself leaving the waiver wire real soon.
Bill Cubit, during a chat with readers of The Detroit Free Press, said that "Alex Carder, Drew Burdi and Tyler VanTubbergen will all get equal reps early." And they'll narrow it down to two during the middle of spring ball. The Broncos have their work cut out for them. Outgoing quarterback Tim Hiller set a whole bunch of passing records while in Kalamazoo, and the new signal caller will likely see significant growing pains.
Western Michigan wide receiver Jordan White caught 11 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown against Ball State. White closed the year out with 21 receptions for 261 yards in his final two games. While WMU will be breaking in a new quarterback next season, White will look to carry his momentum in to next year.
Western Michigan quarterback Tim Hiller saw his career end last night in a loss to Ball State, throwing for 354 yards and a touchdown while being intercepted four times. After throwing 36 touchdowns last season, Hiller had a disappointing senior campaign, finishing with just 23 and 99 on his career. The Broncos outgained Ball State 463 to 226, but Hiller's turnovers did them in, and at 5-7, WMU won't be going bowling. Quite the sour finish.
Western Michigan running back Brandon West carried 25 times for 140 yards and a touchdown. Teammate Jordan White failed to score, but caught 10 balls for an equal 140 yards. Another fun night in the MAC, and when you take on the one of the conference's worst, you expect fireworks. Again, it's been an inconsistent year for WMU, but for those of you who held on to their players, you are being rewarded come playoff time. Hopefully you can get credit for the Broncos' next game, November 24th against Ball St.
Western Michigan quarterback Tim Hiller threw for 275 yards and four touchdowns in today's win over Eastern Michigan. Its been an up and down year for Hiller, but it's clear the potential is always there. Eastern Michigan is amongst the worst defensively, and so is the Broncos next opponent, Ball State. The game isn't until November 24th, so hopefully you can cash in on what should be a nice evening for Hiller.
Western Michigan RB Brandon West ran for 98 yards and a touchdown in a loss at Michigan State. The Broncos fell behind quickly, and abandoned the run almost immediately. Nearly all West's yards came on an 80 yard scamper in the 3rd quarter. QB Tim Hiller completed just 15 of 37 attempts for just 111 and a score. Look for both to rebound in a big way next week against a defenseless Eastern Michigan.
Western Michigan running back Brandon West rushed 27 times for 133 yards and two touchdowns in today's win against Buffalo. West notched a season high in carries; while also hauling in four passes for 41 yards. The Broncos head to Ohio to take on Kent State next Saturday.
Western Michigan wide receiver Juan Nunez will not play Saturday against Buffalo due to lower leg injury. Coach Bill Cubit says that Nunez might have a hairilne fracture in his ankle. This is a tough blow for the Broncos and will also negatively effect quarterback Tim Hiller.
Western Michigan running back Brandon West ran the ball 14 times for 153 yards and three scores as the Broncos went down to Toledo and took some names. West is a better back in total points leagues, but if he's still available in any league you'll want to grab him now.
Western Michigan wide receiver Juan Nunez (bruised knee) should play this week against Toledo. Nunez sat out last week's game against Northern Illinois. We have not seen any direct quotes from players or coaches, which always makes us a bit leery, but several sources are saying he should play.
Western Michigan wide receiver Juan Nunez sat out Saturday's contest against Northern Illinois with a bruised left knee. The Broncos offense only managed 178 yards passing versus the Huskies, and being without their leading receiver certainly played a major factor in the lack of production.
Western Michigan running back Brandon West ran for 128 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries to lead the Broncos on the ground Saturday versus Hofstra. West has been steadily increasing his production over the early part of the season and should see his numbers continue to rise as Western Michigan enters conference play starting next week.
Senior quarterback Tim Hiller passed for just 185 yards on 17 of 29 throwing Saturday in the Western Michigan Broncos' 48-26 route of the MIami (OH) Redhawks, but accounted for four total touchdown passes on the day. Hiller now has 81 collegiate career touchdown passes and needs only three more to tie former Redhawks quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for the conference record.
Western Michigan quarterback Tim Hiller, along with a group of WMU and Kalamazoo Valley Community College students, left for a ministry mission to the island nation of Trinidad April 30. Hiller, who has been limited this spring while recovering from ACL surgery in January, is expected back on May 8. The mission should not impact Hiller's recovery or prep for 2009.
Western Michigan wide receiver Jamelle Murray, who missed all of last season while battling Hodgkin's lymphoma, caught six passes for 67 yards in the spring game. We don't know what type of impact Murray will have in 2009, but we do know it's terrific to hear he's back on the field.
