Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs capped off his impressive collegiate career with yet another stellar performance but this time it was not enough to get the win for the Midshipmen. Dobbs passed for 147 yards, a touchdown, and a pick while also rushing for 107 yards and a score. Dobbs is on to serve his country after leaving a lasting legacy in Annapolis.
After a whole bunch of rain in Southern California, the Poinsettia Bowl "executives" have proclaimed the field "green" and "great" for tonight's game between Air Force and San Diego State. After all this rain it seems likely that this field could deteriorate rather quickly.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs had a great day as the Midshipmen beat Army. Dobbs finished the game with 186 yards passing, two touchdowns, and interception while also rushing for 54 yards. Dobbs has just one more game left in his college career and then it is on to serving his country.
Arkansas State had no answer for Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs as he threw for 164 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 154 yards and three touchdowns. Dobbs is finally getting fully healthy and tonight he showed how dangerous he can be.
Earlier today we noted that Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs (concussion) would be back this week against Arkansas State. Since then Ken Niumatalolo has given Dobbs the green light. We always like to hear it right from the player's or coach's mouth. Barring a setback, Dobbs looks ready to go on Saturday.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs (concussion) is expected to start this week against Arkansas State. This will be Dobbs' last game at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, so you can expect him to be fired up.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs (concussion) missed practice again on Thursday. As coach Ken Niumataloo stated on Wednesday, Kriss Proctor should get the start against Central Michigan.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs (concussion) is unlikely to start Saturday against Central Michigan. "After today we're probably leaning a little bit more towards Proctor. It's already Wednesday and (Dobbs) hasn't gone," coach Ken Niumatalolo said. "At this point, I'm thinking if he does play it will be in a reserve role. If (Dobbs) can't go, (Kris) Proctor's up." Considering we are dealing with a head injury and Dobbs has yet to return to practice, it's time to pull the ripcord on Dobbs for Week 11. Look for Kriss Proctor to get the start and fullback Alexander Teich to get a heavy workload.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs missed practice Monday and Tuesday due to a slight concussion. The coaching staff expects Dobb back at practice ready for the weekend's game. If Navy does not field Dobbs against Central Michigan, Kriss Proctor take over.
Navy is not normally considered a high scoring team but managed to put 76 points on East Carolina with the help of eight rushing touchdowns from its backfield. Quarterback Ricky Dobbs had one to go with 100 yards rushing, fullback Alexander Teich had another with his team leading 157 yards, and Kriss Proctor and Vince Murray both scored twice. Teich has started to look like a real fantasy option but only in deep leagues. The real thing you can take away from this game is that you should start whatever running back is facing East Carolina.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns at Duke. He also rushed for 83 yards and another score. Yes, it's against the Duke defense, but Dobbs is certainly back to being a weekly option. There aren't any scary defenses remaining on the Midshipmen's schedule, and Dobbs may be able to lead you towards playoff glory over the next three weeks - starting with East Carolina next time out.
Ricky Dobbs only attempted two passes against Notre Dame but both were completions for 71 yards and a score. The Navy quarterback did the bulk of his damage on the ground with 90 yards rushing and three more scores. Dobbs is still a risky start but he seems to always perform against the Irish.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs had a combined 194 yards and four touchdowns Saturday against Wake Forest. It's about time, nothing like the Deacon defense to restart your season. After scoring 32 times last year, Dobbs came into the day with just four touchdowns in 2010. Things are looking up once again, and Navy gets SMU next time out. If someone was impatient and dropped Dobbs, go grab him.
Air Force made Ricky Dobbs pretty uncomfortable as the Falcons snapped Navy's win streak this Saturday. Dobbs completed just 5-of-14 passes for 83 yards with an interception and was only able to turn his 18 carries into 43 yards. Air Force has a good defense and runs the same offense as Navy which was a recipe for disaster for Dobbs.
After spraining his ankle against Maryland in the season opener, Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs says he is currently at around 91% as he prepares to face rival Air Force this weekend. Dobbs is still a threat even if he is not 100%, but against a fellow triple-option running service academy, do not expect him to have great numbers.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs has been limited in practice since suffering an ankle injury in the season opener and tweaking it further last week. Dobbs has been seen wearing an ankle brace around practice. If the Middies lose Dobbs, there goes the entire season. If you have him on your team, he should probably be benched until further notice.
When facing Georgia Southern, which runs the option and is quarterbacked by Georgia Tech transfer Jaybo Shaw, the Navy ground game was held in check. Ricky Dobbs ran 25 times for a meager 44 yards and a touchdown while the team as a whole was held to just 109 yards rushing. As was the case last year, Dobbs likes to call his own number as he has run the ball 54 times in the past two games. The offense will be run through and around Dobbs, so he is still a nice option in most leagues.
In an effort to really work on the Navy passing game, the Midshipmen took to the air 39 times in their last scrimmage. Ricky Dobbs went 10-of-20 for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Dobbs is not going to be confused for Case Keenum anytime soon, but it is a good sign to see him working on his passing game. Dobbs should have a greater command of the triple option this year, which makes him a solid QB2 in any league.
The Middies lose another player in Mario Washington, who pulled double duty as a wide receiver and as a defensive back. Earlier this year, slotback Marcus Curry was dismissed from the team. While Washington was not a fantasy factor, these dismissals have to make you wonder about the Navy program as of late.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs had surgery to remove a bone chip in his knee in January, but was on the field for the start of spring practice. Dobbs will be held out of contact drills. Surgery or no surgery, there is no sense banging on Dobbs this spring. He is a solid backup fantasy QB2 when the schedule is right.
Navy starting center Eric Douglass will miss the Texas Bowl against Missouri due to academic issues. Brady DeMell will take his place. DeMell has a good deal of experience so while this news isn't great for the Navy attack it's not the end of the world either. Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo appears confident that Douglass will be back for spring ball.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs rushed for 113 yards and scored two touchdowns (one rushing) in the win over Army on Saturday. Dobbs' rushing touchdown marks his 24th of the season, a NCAA record for quarterback rushing touchdowns in a single season.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs accounted for 178 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns in the win over Delaware. Dobbs now has 26 scores on the season, and he's emerged as a very legitimate starting option.
Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo told The Baltimore Sun that quarterback Ricky Dobbs (knee) "looked great" in practice and he's ready to tackle the Fighting Irish. Dobbs is an intriguing option this week, though coming off an injury he may be a little too risky for fantasy owners this late in the season.
ESPN.com's Graham Watson reports that Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs is expected to start on Saturday against Notre Dame. Dobbs, who has missed the last two weeks, is an interesting option against an Irish defense that has allowed its share of points this season. However, as he's not in game shape, we'd recommend going with another option at quarterback.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs (knee) will not play Saturday against Temple. Kriss Proctor will get his second consecutive start. Proctor led Navy to a win over Wake Forest last week without attempting a pass.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Wake Forest due to a cracked bone in his right knee.
Kriss Proctor will get his first start for the Midshipmen, but hewill have a tough time replacing the dual threat Dobbs. There has been no word on how long Dobbs will be out.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs had an MRI on his right knee and did not practice on Tuesday. As you would expect, coach Ken Niumatalolo isn't saying much on Dobbs' status this week against Wake Forest.ÿ We'll need to wait for the MRI results to be released.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs ran for 104 yards and four touchdowns in a blowout win over Rice. Dobbs has accounted for 17 touchdowns on the season, with 14 coming on the ground.
Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs had a hand in five touchdowns on Saturday, rushing for four and throwing for another in Navy's win over Western Kentucky.
He also ran for 143 yards while throwing for 100. He now has nine rushing touchdowns on the year.
QB Ricky Dobbs had an impressive starting debut for Navy, accounting for 239 total yards and four touchdowns. 156 of those yards and two touchdowns came through the air, but his late two point conversion attempt to tie the game was intercepted and Ohio State avoided the upset.
Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo is going to look to throw more thanks to quarterback Ricky Dobbs' nice arm, and this was evident in their first scrimmage, as Navy threw on four of its first six plays. Navy will still be a run-first and run-second too, but very much like Georgia Tech, the Midshipmen are going to look to display a little more balance.
Navy slot back Bobby Doyle led the Gold squad with 43 yards rushing on three carries (14.3 yards per carry) in Friday night's spring game. The Gold team went on to shut out the Blue team, 19-0. Although Doyle only managed three touches on the night, he did grab a 21 yard gain on one of his attempts.
Presumed Navy starting quarterback Ricky Dobbs sprained his ankle early in the second quarter during tonight's spring scrimmage. This came after leading the Gold team to two field goals, passing for 11 yards and rushing for 18 yards on the evening. Head coach Ken Niumatalolo told Navysports.com that "Fortunately it was a mild sprained ankle. He could have gone back in if it was a real game." Dobbs will remain an intriguing option this fall.
Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo said of the starting quarterback job: "It's Ricky's job to lose because we've seen what Ricky can do and he's been in real games. He's performed well under pressure." No surprise here. Kriss Proctor and Mike Stukel are listed as the backups. Dobbs, like any starting Navy quarterback, is an interesting starting option when matchups appear right, though the position's inconsistent production makes a longterm investment a little risky.
